Many of the buildings in this area have a medallion like this reading "B. W. Co." and the date. I found out that this stands for the Boston Wharf Company that built many of these buildings and which still owns them today.

Here's a loading dock that got converted into a storefront,

These loading docks were bricked up.

Another loading dock converted into a storefront.

A door for a coal scuttle?

Here's the oldest medallion I saw - 1894

One of the newer medallion dates - 1987- on a parking garage.

12

12

An old fire house. The sign the Boston Fire Museum, but it doesn't appear to be open.

That's an old building on the right and a new building on the left, but they blend together rather nicely.

15

15

These old signs are still visible.

16

16

More traces of old signs on the walls of this McDonald's.

17

My office is in this block.

18

18

In my building, the ceilings are high and are supported by these huge 15-inch square wooden beams. This one is right outside my cubicle.

19

This huge old beam, on the way down to the cafeteria, is even bigger.
